When uploading files to my server it was normal for me to use a number of ftp programs. A few of the programs I used were services that were free and the rest were paid services. Here’s a small tip that is likely to save you some time and money.
It is important that you know this will not be effective without cpanel access. For anyone who is a webmaster and doing business online selling stuff then cpanel facilities are necessary for every one of the domain accounts you control.
The newer version of cpanel provides users with greater functionality than what the older versions offered. With the newer version you are able to download and upload files much easier. You can opt for the x3 skin with its flexibility and greater number of options.
When downloading and uploading files using cpanel however you will have one key drawback. This will be that users are not able to transfer folder directly the way you can using an old ftp program. To get around this issue you will need to create a zip file of your folder by compressing it and then go ahead and download this zip file unto your computer. You will now be able to extract the folder by unzipping the file.
You can use this technique to download or upload a massive number of files. So if you are creating a mini site and you are using a designated domain name, you will need to upload the site creation work to your server. All you will need to do is to store all the files in one folder and then zip the folder and upload via cpanel.
This method is very quick and easy and will save you time. Sadly cpanel will not be able to automatically change file permission when the file are sub directory files.
By the way; I have Just found this contest where the prize is ski resorts. Everyone should really put your names forward, this would be a marvelous way to spend the last little bit of the winter!
